But most importantly: Wall Street Rides FAR is an amazing family-friendly day of riding through fall foliage to support the innovative, life-changing research being done by ASF-funded scientists.

Why Ride FAR?

Autumn leaves. A community coming together. A chance to change lives. That’s Wall Street Rides FAR, a fun and meaningful cycling event to benefit the Autism Science Foundation. Join us as the Wall Street community comes together to support this important cause.

On Saturday, September 30, hundreds of riders—a mix of avid cyclists and weekend recreational riders—will gather at our flagship, in-person ride at Saxon Woods County Park on a fully supported journey through some of the most scenic roads north of New York City. From our 4-mile family ride to a 62-mile hilly metric century, plus our 5K trail walk, people of all interest and ability levels have the opportunity to take part. With rest stops every 15 miles so magical we call them “Oases,” ample route marking, safety monitors at tricky intersections, bike techs and sweep vans if you need them, our volunteers will take care of almost any need. Wall Street Rides FAR is a leaf-peeping cyclist’s utopia. Meanwhile, around the world, riders will come together to join the event from wherever they are, with their team or solo.

Why do we work so hard to make this a great experience? Because you are supporting an indispensable charity—the Autism Science Foundation (ASF). ASF is a research-driven organization that supports innovative studies into the causes and treatments of autism and the families it impacts.

Beautiful autumn scenery. Building community. Amazing support. An important cause. The time of your life. What are you waiting for? Register for Wall Street Rides FAR today!

Members of team AquaBlue and OTC Markets share the roads in friendly competition while raising funds for autism research.

The Routes

We have a wide range of route options on Saturday, September 30, 2023. They all begin and end at Saxon Woods County Park, 1800 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY. Free parking is available on site. About a month before the ride, you’ll receive a pre-ride guide that will include details on check-in and the day’s events.

Check-in begins at 6:30 on Saturday morning. After a 7:15 opening ceremony, the ride begins at 7:30 with, fittingly for a Wall Street community event, the “Opening Bell” that signifies the route is open for riders. In-person riders will have a choice of five tempting ride options and our 5K trail walk.* Click on a ride to view the GPS route. Please note, the Ride with GPS links are for informational purposes only and should not be used for navigation on the event. Your actual route may deviate from those posted here; follow the posted signs at the event.

  • The friendly loop, a 4-mile route through leafy, suburban neighborhoods. There are just a couple of hills, and you’ll get the bigger one out of the way early. This is a great route for more novice cyclists who want to be part of the event. (Total climbing: 280 feet) FAR 4 Mile Route and Elevation Map
  • Family activities!
    • The family challenge, a 12-mile sampling of our longer routes, complete with an oasis halfway through. It is short, but not entirely sweet, with a couple climbs you will remember.  It is fun, manageable, and gorgeous! Best for older kids (12+) who ride on a regular basis.
    • The family loop, a 4-mile route through leafy, suburban neighborhoods. There are some small hills, but nothing you and the kiddos can’t handle.
    • The 5K, on a beautiful, wooded trail in Saxon Woods Park. Please wear proper footwear (sneakers or hiking boots). The trail is not stroller friendly.
    • Back at Saxon Woods, kids can enjoy miniature golf, games, a bounce house and more!

On the ride, you won’t just be fully supported; “nurtured” is more apt. Our extraordinary, volunteer crew will anticipate your needs as you ride each day. The route is amply marked and at tricky turns you’ll find crew to guide you safely through. Every 15 miles you’ll find an “Oasis.” More than a simple pit stop, it’s a respite from the road with lots of cheering and a variety of snacks, water and sport drink, toilets, medical assistance and bike techs. Our sweep vans have a way of appearing when you need them.

The family friendly route is enjoyed by cyclists of all ages including members of Team GTS and ForeFront.

Wall Street Rides FAR will end with a closing ceremony shortly after noon with a hearty, satisfying lunch, complimentary beer for adult participants, inspiration from members of the autism community, and a chance to meet some of the very scientists your fundraising is supporting!

FAQs

What is the terrain like?

Spectacularly scenic! The longer the route you choose, the hillier the terrain. The shortest route will have a few climbs; the metric century will have lots of challenges for more fit riders. On a virtual ride, the terrain is whatever you make it. GPS routes are available below:

62 mile.           12 mile

What’s the prize for the winner?

Wall Street Rides FAR is a non-competitive, community-building event. It is not a race! Everyone is a winner. Celebrate your accomplishment with our delicious lunch (and a beer, if you’re 21 or over).

Virtual and in-person participants are encouraged to join our club on Strava, where you can join individual and team challenges with your peers in New York, on our satellite rides in Baltimore and Toronto, and with virtual riders around the globe.

How much of the money will go to the Autism Science Foundation?

We work very hard to keep production expenses as low as possible by soliciting sponsorships, donations and discounts for supplies. We are grateful to our sponsors who provided over $750,000 in cash in 2022. To date, each year our sponsors’ support have made it possible for 100% of participant donations to be delivered to ASF. Ultimately, the amount of money, and the percent return, depends upon how many people ride and how much each rider raises.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. You must meet these minimum ages:

  • 16+ on the metric century route
  • 14+ on the 30-mile route
  • 12+ on the 20- and 12-mile routes
  • All ages are welcome on the 4-mile loop and the 5K trail walk

All participants under 18 must ride or walk with a parent or guardian; no more than two minors per adult.

Patrick Flanneryfrom Team MayStreet shares the road with fellow Wall Street riders on the beautiful, fully-supported, 62-mile route.

What is the fundraising requirement?

For riders on the 20-mile and longer cycling routes, the fundraising minimum is $500. For trail walkers and riders on the 4- and 12-mile family routes, the fundraising minimum is $250 for an individual or family of up to two parents and two children under 12.

Virtual riders have no fundraising minimum, but you must raise at least $500 to qualify for our virtual rider benefits, including our exclusive Oasis-In-A-Box and online access to all day-of-event activities.

Do I need to be affiliated with Wall Street to ride?

Absolutely not! While we are most grateful to the Wall Street community for its outpouring support (please visit our Sponsors page for examples), Wall Street Rides FAR is open to all.
