  • All ages are welcome on the 5K walk

  • All participants under 10 must walk with a parent or guardian; no more than two minors per adult.

Do I need to bring my own bicycle?

  • Yes. Riders are responsible for providing their own bicycle to participate in the event.
  • Please note that all riders must wear a helmet in order to participate in the event.

How much of the money will go to the Autism Science Foundation?

We work very hard to keep production expenses as low as possible by soliciting sponsorships, donations and discounts for supplies.

To date, each year our sponsors’ support have made it possible for 100% of participant donations to be delivered to ASF. Ultimately, the amount of money, and the percent return, depends upon how many people ride and how much each rider raises.

What is the terrain like?

Spectacularly scenic, yet flat! On a virtual ride, the terrain is whatever you make it.

GPS routes are available, but please note the Ride with GPS links are for informational purposes only and should not be used for navigation on the event. Your actual route may deviate from those posted here; follow the posted signs at the event

Do I need to be affiliated with the financial community to ride?

Absolutely not! While we are most grateful to the financial community for its outpouring of support (please visit our Sponsors page for examples), Chicago Street Rides FAR is open to all.

The Routes

5K walk
Families of all ages will love our 5K walk to Busse Lake and back. Taking place on a paved path through scenic Busse Forest, this flat route is a lovely stroll through a serene natural seting.

8-mile ride
Our shortest bike ride is absolutely family-friendly! Held entirely within the confines of the Busse Forest Nature Preserve, our 8-mile ride is suitable for all riders ages 10 and up. You’ll circumnavigate Busse Lake and at the far end, keep your eyes open for the famed elk!

17-mile ride
Our midrange route features all the highlights of the 8-mile ride, plus a jaunt into Elk Grove Village to a sculpture park, adding a touch of culture to your bike ride.

30-mile ride
Enjoy all the highlights above, then venture farther afield through tree-lined residential neighborhoods and some straightaways to Hoffman Estates to really get your legs moving.

Family Fun

Families will have a blast on Chicago Rides FAR! Choose the activities that suit your interests. If you have a family member taking part in one of the longer cycling routes, you can enjoy our family fun while s/he is out riding, and still be on hand to cheer your loved one back home at the end.

Upon your return to the finish festival site, there’s more family fun! The kids can choose from a selection of games and, of course, enjoy a delicious lunch.
