FAQS

What are the fundraising requirements?

  • For riders, the fundraising minimum is $500 CAD.
  • For walkers, the fundraising minimum is $250  CAD for an individual or family of up to two parents and two children under 12.

Is there a minimum age?

  • Yes. 18+ on the cycling routes
  • All ages are welcome on the 5K walk

  • All participants under 18 must walk with a parent or guardian; no more than two minors per adult.

Do I need to bring my own bicycle?

  • Yes. Riders are responsible for providing their own bicycle to participate in the event.
  • Please note that all riders must wear a helmet in order to participate in the event.

How much of the money will go to ASF Canada?

  • We work very hard to keep production expenses as low as possible by soliciting sponsorships, donations and discounts for supplies.
  • To date, each year our sponsors’ support have made it possible for 100% of participant donations to be delivered to ASF Canada. Ultimately, the amount of money, and the percent return, depends upon how many people ride and how much each rider raises.

What is the terrain like?

  • Scenic and mostly flat! For our 10k and 20k routes, the total elevation gain is only 3 meters. The 50k route does have a couple of good climbs on the back half. On a virtual ride, the terrain is whatever you make it.
  • GPS routes are available, but please note the Ride with GPS links are for informational purposes only and should not be used for navigation on the event. Your actual route may deviate from those posted here; follow the posted signs at the event

Do I need to be affiliated with the financial community to ride?

Absolutely not! While we are most grateful to the financial community for its outpouring of support (please visit our Sponsors page for examples), Bay Street Rides FAR is open to all.

The Routes

The Flagship 50K
Our flagship route – our longest in Toronto to date – features all the scenery of our shorter routes and more! The 50K includes additional views of the Lake Ontario shoreline, then turns inland for some hillier, more challenging terrain. This route is suitable for fitter riders and those with some training under their belts.

The Lakeshore Roll

This 20-km route has a lovely scenic loop along the water, as well as historic old Toronto.  Total elevation gain = 10 feet. Ages 18+

The Cherry Beach Charmer
A quick, flat 10-km route along the water with a peek of old Toronto, too.  Total elevation gain = 10 feet. Ages 18+

5 Km Walk
Our family walk includes a stroll on the Water’s Edge Promenade, and a walk through the Distillery District. Suitable for all ages

Family Fun

Families will have a blast on Bay Street Rides FAR! Choose the activities that suit your interests. If you have a family member taking part in one of the longer cycling routes, you can enjoy our family fun while s/he is out riding, and still be on hand to cheer your loved one back home at the end.

The 5k family walk is a loop along the waterfront and through the Distillery District, a mix of scenery and history that’s sure to please.

Upon your return to the finish festival site, there’s more family fun! The kids can choose from a selection of games and, of course, enjoy a delicious lunch.
